It's impossible to choose just one! Different books suit different moods. If I want exquisite writing layered with tension and drama then I'll choose SF Said or Michael Mopurgo. If I want adventure and familiarity then I'll choose Enid Blyton - either the Magic Faraway Tree or the Adventure series.
